Head of Legal

Overview

The Head of Legal will be responsible for leading and managing Qtech Games’ global legal function, based out of Stockholm. This role includes providing strategic legal advice to senior management, overseeing compliance and regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions, managing contracts and commercial negotiations, and mitigating legal risks. The Head of Legal will also manage a small legal team, ensuring efficiency, professional development, and alignment with business objectives.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leadership & Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small legal team to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Build a proactive, solutions-oriented legal function that supports the company’s global expansion.

Legal Strategy & Advisory
- Act as the primary legal advisor to senior management and the Board on all key legal and regulatory issues.
- Develop and implement legal strategies to support the company’s business objectives while minimizing risk.
Contracts & Commercial Support
- Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including distribution, licensing, supplier, and partnership contracts.
- Provide clear and timely legal advice to business teams on contract terms and risks.
Regulatory & Compliance
- Monitor and advise on compliance with gambling regulations, corporate governance requirements, GDPR, intellectual property, and employment laws across multiple jurisdictions.
- Ensure company policies and practices adhere to applicable laws and ethical standards.
- Liaise with regulators, external counsel, and industry bodies as required.
Risk & Dispute Management
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks in business operations.
- Manage disputes, litigation, and external legal counsel as necessary.

Experience needed:

Law degree (LL.M. or equivalent) and bar admission in Sweden or another EU jurisdiction.
Minimum 8–10 years of post-qualification experience, ideally with a mix of top-tier law firm and in-house experience.
Strong background in commercial contracts, corporate law, and regulatory compliance.
Previous experience in the iGaming and/or technology industries is highly desirable.
Proven track record of managing and mentoring a small legal team.
Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills in English; Swedish language is an advantage.
Strong business acumen, with the ability to balance legal risk with commercial opportunity.
